HLF announces £3.7m for Hampshire and Isle of Wight projects
A new visitor centre is to be developed at Quarr Abbey on the Isle of Wight after the project was one of three to receive a share of £3.7m from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF).
The abbey site near Fishbourne includes three listed structures, including the Grade II-listed remains of a building dating back to 1132. The scheme has received a £2m grant.
Elsewhere, the Isle of Wight Steam Railway has secured £970,000 and a further £820,000 is to go towards new visitor facilities at Tywford Waterworks near Winchester.
