New trust takes over control of Auckland Castle
The newly-established Auckland Castle Trust (ACT) is planning to restore and open up the historic County Durham property after assuming responsibility for its operation.
The trust aims to raise more than £10m over the next two years from numerous sources in a bid to realise its vision for Auckland Castle - the former home of the Bishops of Durham.
ACT is planning to establish the castle as a centre for the History of British Christianity and to host exhibitions in conjunction with partners such as the V&A and the British Museum.
