Council finalises Dyffryn Gardens agreement with National Trust

A new agreement that will lead to the National Trust taking over the management of Dyffryn Gardens from the Vale of Glamorgan Council (VGC) from January 2013 is now complete.

The trust has signed a 50-year lease to operate the 55-acre (22-hectare) attraction near Barry, which received £6.15m from the Heritage Lottery Fund in 1997 towards a major restoration.

VGC leader Neil Moore said: "The National Trust can take this beautiful location to a higher level, drawing in its members from all over the UK."
