Heritage Lottery Fund boost for Bury's Fusilier Museum

The Fusilier Museum in Bury, Greater Manchester, has received a boost from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) towards its Onward and Upward redevelopment project.

Earlier this year, the museum submitted a bid for nearly £700,000 for the creation of a new open store area, which will allow it to open up its full collection to the public.

As part of the application process, the HLF has requested match funding of £530,000, with the Fusilier Museum now planning to embark on a fundraising campaign.

General manager Helen Field said: "We are confident that we can raise the money needed to match the HLF's proposed contribution, in spite of this economic climate."
