First images revealed of David Walliams' Gangsta Granny ride at Alton Towers

Merlin Entertainments has revealed images of the new Gangsta Granny: The Ride at its Alton Towers theme park in Staffordshire, UK.

Due to open on Monday 17 May, once pandemic restrictions are lifted, the ride is based on – and themed according to – the Gangsta Granny universe, created by comedian and children's author David Walliams. Gangsta Granny was Walliams’ first children’s number one bestseller.

The multi-sensory, family attraction will see guests join the main characters of Gangsta Granny as they attempt the greatest heist in the history of the world: to steal the Crown Jewels.

The ride will twist and spin through the sewers and offer 360-degree special effects, allowing passengers to see, feel, hear and even smell a re-telling of the Gangsta Granny story.

Guests will descend with Ben and Granny into the sewers, be chased through the streets of London and even come face to face with the Queen.

The ride experience will be accompanied by Gangsta Granny themed bedrooms at the Alton Towers Hotel.

David Wallliams said: "I can’t wait for the ride to finally come to life and open its doors to families.

“The latest images really showcase the amazing production behind the ride and it’s a real delight to see my characters brought to life”.
