ALVA calls for Political Parties to 'Take Tourism Seriously'

08 October 2013: ALVA has today, 8th October, signed a letter with 35 other leading tourism organisations to the UK political party leaders to 'take tourism seriously' and to create policies to boost UK tourism in the run-up to the General Election. At the last General Election in 2010 none of the three UK main political parties mentioned tourism - one of the UK's largest, most important job-creating industries - in their manifestos.

The campaign was initiated and is being spearheaded by ALVA Chairman Lord Lee of Trafford. Lord Lee is asking the Government a question in the House of Lords on the afternoon of the 8th October why the Government isn't implementing policies which would realise the potential of one of the UK's largest and most succesful sectors.
