2013 Museum and Heritage award winners announced

Pringle Richards Sharratt Architects and GUM Design, have won the 2013 Museums and Heritage Award for Permanent Exhibition for their work on the William Morris Gallery in London.

The gallery re-opened in August 2012 following major redevelopment after funding of over £3m from the Heritage Lottery Fund and the London Borough of Waltham Forest was granted.

The award highlighted excellence in the creation of a permanent exhibition within a museum, gallery or heritage attraction or the opening of a new attraction within the period of eligibility.

Other winners announced at this year's ceremony - held last night (15 May) at 8 Northumberland in London - saw Scott's Last Expedition, displayed at The Natural History Museum pick up the Temporary or Touring Exhibition Award, while The Grant Museum of Zoology in London picked up the Culture Pros Pick Award for the most inspiring museum or heritage attraction.

A panel of the sector's leading names judged the Awards. These included: Diane Lees, Director General, Imperial War Museums and Bernard Donoghue, Director, Association of Leading Visitor Attractions (ALVA). Now into their 11th year, the awards recognise best practice within museums, galleries and heritage visitor attractions.
